This January, The Gov’s Homegrown Showcase brings together 10 exceptional up and coming South Australian talents for an electrifying night of original hits.

Tearing across the stage is Misnomer, Bugmeat, Happy Accidents, Emerald, Natalia Jewel, Andy Mck, James Pots, Tacenda, Datura and Grey-Matter for one killer night.
Misnomer are 4 mates from the southern suburbs of Adelaide with a huge passion for music and a wide range of music tastes but have come together to form Misnømer, we don’t have a defining genre but are heavily influenced by alternative music, metal, punk and all the sub categories in between.
Bugmeat are Adelaide's meatiest alternative band and are super excited to share their music with everyone. Their sound takes inspiration from the genres of indie rock, emo and experimental music and they can't wait to perform at the Homegrown Showcase.
Happy Accidents are an alternative rock band with its members coming together from various parts of Adelaide. The band is mainly influenced by 60s, 70s and 90s rock and each member carries their own style and persona.
From regional Adelaide, Emerauld’s original music is filled with personal, emotional lyrics and a voice that packs a punch! Her sound is heavily influenced by Mother Mother, The Distillers and Phoebe Bridgers, and with a presence that instantly resonates with listeners. Emerauld’s music, reviewed by Triple J with radio play rotation and a featured artist spotlight, have compared her sound to Paramore and Alex Laney. Emerauld has supported great SA bands like The Tullamarines and Oscar the Wild and performed at Womad23 on the NSS Stage, Beer & Cider Fest, IndieFest, Feast Festival and notably placed 28th on Aus Idol’s return to TV, with a golden ticket straight to Sydney. Emerauld has new music due out next month with a little surprise to follow.
Natalia Jewel is a singer/songwriter making whimsical indie-rock songs. With inspiration from all different genres, their honest lyrics and folk-inspired tunes take a poetic spin to life.
Andy McK is a solo singer/songwriter born and raised in beautiful Adelaide, I began writing original tunes in 2024 and am releasing music on spotify very soon.
James Pots is a local, 18-year-old singer-songwriter who blends folk and pop with authentic, acoustic soundscapes. James’s journey began with the release of his debut single, Reply, in mid-2023, followed by Cannot Sleep later that year. Both tracks, in an acoustic pop style, gained radio play across Australia and were streamed thousands of times worldwide. In December 2023, James released his first EP, The Right Words, drawing strong folk and country influences and amassing over 25,000 plays. Building on this momentum, he returned in March 2024 with Mountains, an introspective acoustic track. A month later, he collaborated with drummer and close friend Jonothan Ruigira on What You Say, which became his highest-streaming song with over 20,000 plays globally. April 2024 saw the release of James’s critically received EP, Seasons, an experimental project featuring What You Say as the lead single alongside two instrumental tracks: Don’t Let Go, a house electronic song that earned a 4-star rating on Triple J Unearthed, and What We Have, an indie instrumental praised by Wizard Water Agency. Now, James has released his debut album, Everyone’s Gonna Know Your Name, with lead singles Wait Here (dance EDM) and Night (acoustic pop). James is an exciting and emerging voice in the Australian music scene.
Datura is a five-piece metal ensemble fusing elements of hardcore, melodic metalcore and alternative metal to create a unique sound in the Adelaide scene. A seamless blend of influences sets Datura apart, with guitarists Blake and Elijah, vocalist Jack, bassist Isaac and drummer Riley.
Tacenda are a 5 piece alt rock band that dives into bands such as system of a down to Maneskin. They play a range of genres and originated down south with founding members , Ash on bass , Jess on guitar and Riley on drums. soon followed Blake on the second guitar and Summer on vocals.
Grey-Matter are an immutable and utterly unmistakable team of musicians who bring an attitude unparalleled amongst their peers. At their core, the trio of Thomas, Jamie, and Jayden have been the driving force behind the band's persistence and bring unmatched variety to whatever stage they play. Despite ever-changing roles they continue to bring a myriad of unique musical styles to their fans and bring the show in full force at every stage.
